Camp Ember

Camp Ember participants dressed in turnout gear.Camp Ember is an immersive fire-based camp building essential skills in young women for bold and bright futures. The camp is hosted by Arvada Fire, Red Rocks Community College, and West Metro Fire Protection District.

Camp Ember is a 4-day, 3-night camp offered to young women ages 16-18 in early summer. The camp is FREE for the young women selected and includes training, mentorship from community female firefighters, lodging, transportation between training events, and food and drink.

Campers will be introduced to the world of firefighting and EMS by mentors that will inspire them to embrace their full potential! 

Skills and training offered at Camp Ember include:

  • Bunker gear drills
  • Climbing an aerial ladder
  • CPR and First Aid certification
  • Search and rescue
  • Fire hydrant operations
  • Fire hose handling
  • Team building
  • Fitness and nutrition

Applications for Camp Ember 2023 will open in February while camp dates are to be determined. Stay tuned for more information about registration and the camp!
