Arvada Fire is helping Fill the Boot over the Labor Day weekend to raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA).
For 67 years, firefighters with the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) have been supporting the MDA through the Fill the Boot Program, which helps raise funds for those living with neuromuscular diseases. This year, Arvada Fire will be continuing this long-standing tradition to support the MDA’s mission to accelerate research, advance care and advocate for the support of MDA families.
Our crews will be at eight locations with boots in hand asking community members to donate to the MDA from Sept. 2-5.
- 52 Ave. and Vance St. near Red Robin
- Walmart on 58th and Independence St.
- King Soopers on 58th and Kipling
- King Soopers on 80th and Wadsworth
- King Soopers on 80th and Sheridan
- King Soopers on 64th Ave. and Ward Road
- King Soopers in Candelas
- King Soopers on 64th Ave. and McIntyre St.
This partnership between the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) and the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) began in 1954 when the IAFF chose the MDA as its charity of choice and vowed to raise awareness and funds until cures are found. To date, the partnership has raised more than $679 million with over 300,000 firefighters involved nationwide.
These funds have helped find dozens of FDA-approved therapies for those with neuromuscular diseases. In addition, the donations have been used to help MDA advance care through community education, advocacy, recreation, support and connection for those living with muscular dystrophy.
Last year, Arvada Fire firefighters raised nearly $40,00 for MDA. If you can’t make it to one of our locations this weekend but still want to donate, secure online donations are available.
