Registration is now open for Arvada Fire's Youth Fire Academy, an interactive and educational camp held every summer for youth between the ages of 11 and 14 years. The camp consists of three consecutive half-days filled with activities.
This year's academy will be held June 20-22, 2023 from 8 a.m. to noon each day. The academy is hosted at our Training Center at 6651 Indiana St. Space is limited and registration fills up fast, so register your children today. There is a $10 registration fee to reserve a space and cover snacks.
The fire academy gives our communities' youth the chance to learn about local fire, rescue, and emergency medical services response while meeting friends, learning from our first responders, and most importantly, having fun! During the camp, participants will learn about wearing protective firefighting gear, ropes and knots, carrying and operating fire hose, performing CPR, and many other emergency response activities. All activities are performed safely with supervision in a controlled environment.
In addition to gaining a host of new skills, campers will learn about teamwork, leadership, responsibility, and commitment. Camp is appropriate for youth who may be interested in the fire service as a future career choice, or for those who just want to have fun, learn skills, and hang out with firefighters!
